今週のお題「自由研究」
学生時代の宿題で、自由研究で何を調査していたかはほとんど覚えていないが、読書感想文は毎回出されて、苦労した記憶は鮮明に残っている。
今は感想文を書くことが、楽しみの一つでもあるから、不思議なものである。
10年ほど前にこの本の題名に惹かれて手にして読んでみた。
ジブリの宮崎監督が映画化するという発表を聞いた時に再度読み、最近映画がリリースされたことでまた手にしてみた。
ちなみに、英語のタイトルは、「君たちはどう生きるか」ではなく、「The Boy and the Heron（少年とサギ）」に決まったそうだ。
本の内容は、コペル君、というあだ名の、中学生の本田君と叔父さんとのやり取りが物語の軸になっている。
そして、その叔父さんからの以下のメッセージが、私の一番のお気に入りで、頭に残っている部分である。
ところで、君自身はどうだろう。君自身は何をつくり出しているだろう。世の中からいろいろなものを受け取っているが、逆に世の中に何を与えているかしら。
～中略～
しかし、自分が消費するものよりも、もっと多くのものを生産して世の中に送り出している人と、何も生産しないで、ただ消費ばかりしている人間と、どっちが立派な人間か、どっちが大切な人間か、-----こう尋ねてみたら、それは問題にならないじゃあないか。
生み出してくれる人がなかったら、それを味わったり、楽しんだりして消費することはできやしない。生み出す働きこそ、人間を人間らしくしてくれるのだ。 （p149～150）
この叔父の言葉は、現代社会においても重要なメッセージを持っていると感じた。
消費主義の中で、物を手に入れることや欲望の追求に重点が置かれがちだが、本当の幸福や意味を見つけるためには、自分自身が何かを生み出し、他人に貢献することが重要な要素となる。
この考え方は、個人の成長や社会の持続可能性にも深く関わってくるのではないかと考えられる。
この本は児童文学として出版されたようだが、現代の大人が読んでも考えさせられるポイントの多い本だと思っていて、自分の中の名作の一つになっている。
映画は本の内容と異なる背景になっているようだが、哲学的なベースは近いものと期待しながら、映画鑑賞の時を待ちたい。

I read it again when I heard that Studio Ghibli director Miyazaki was making a movie, and picked it up again when the movie was released recently.

I felt that this uncle's words have an important message in modern society.
Consumerism tends to focus on acquiring things and pursuing desires, but in order to find true happiness and meaning, it is important for us to create something ourselves and contribute to others. element.
This way of thinking is deeply related to the growth of individuals and the sustainability of society.
This book seems to have been published as children's literature, but I think that it is a book with many points that will make you think even if you read it by adults today, and it is one of my masterpieces.
The movie seems to have a different background than the content of the book, but I hope that the philosophical base will be similar, and I will wait for the time to watch the movie.
